Professional Development

The need for outdoor teacher training and curriculum connections are real barriers that prevent educators from offering more environmental learning experiences. Grow Wise Learning can curate professional development experiences for your individual school or on a district-wide level to encourage outdoor learning. Offering single presentations or monthly learning sessions the goal is connecting educators of all grade levels and subjects to quality place-based practices so every child can learn outside.

Schoolyard Features Inventory

Sally Triant designed the Schoolyard Features Inventory as a tool to assess the capacity every schoolyard has to support environmental and outdoor learning. Each schoolyard is observed through the lens of curriculum connections, habitat creation, and community science as well as the ability to support stewardship and civic engagement opportunities. Designed to discover the unique connection to place and the potential of every schoolyard to support outdoor learning while working to uncover barriers that prevent it. Grow Wise Learning can conduct an individual survey or work to unlock the potential for environmental and outdoor learning for your entire district!

Environmental Education Consulting

Place-based education is a powerful tool that can be used to create the kind of lasting and meaningful learning that will call the next generation of scholars to become stewards. With almost twenty-years of experience teaching and working as a place-based educator and community partner, Sally Triant can help your classroom, school, district, or your organization find purposeful ways to implement environmental learning. Collaborate with Grow Wise Learning to make environmental education available to everyone and encourage opportunities to connect individuals of all ages to community through stewardship and civic engagement.

“If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder, he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, excitement, and mystery of the world we live in.”

~ Rachel Carson
